Federal excise tax 2007/02/08 07:36 Karma: 0
Hello guys,

I am using cell phone from 2003( Sprint and verizon).
I didnt had any land line service.
I could find any Federal tax detals on phone bill for long distance service.

Can I claim Federal excise tax on my tax return for 2006?

Thank you
jimmy

The federal excise tax credit is a tax credit for the excise taxes you paid for the long distance service. If you use your cell phone for long distance service, you can claim the tax credit. You don't need phone bills, if you are claiming the standard amount $30-$60 based upon the number of exemptions you claim on your individual income tax return. You can find more details here http://findtaxservice.com/faq-tax-tips/view/irs-taxtips/long%11distance-telephone-excise-tax-refund/ 48/
