Common Tax Filing Errors 2006/08/14 07:44 Karma: 0
The most common mistakes while filing tax return are:
Using an incorrect Social Security number.
Tax Calculation error.
Missing signature
Failure to include W-2s
Claiming deductions which are not eligible for tax deductiosn like deductions for travel and entertainment, deductions for a home office and capital gains and losses.

If you become aware that you made a mistake you should amend your return by filing a 1040X.

You can classify these errors that are committed with a purpose
(Maximize tax return !! ?? !! ) and that are accidental..

Your last item often fall in the first category and is used by tax scam artists.. Other mistakes may happen accidentally
